Local Start-Up Assistance 2024
UTeM actively supports local start-ups by offering various coaching and training programs designed to nurture entrepreneurial talent especially for students and open to the local community outside of UTeM.
This initiative aligns with the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030 (NEP 2030), launched by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC), which aims to make Malaysia an entrepreneurial nation by 2030. Under NEP 2030, the higher education sector plays a vital role in strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem through two key thrusts:
- Synergistic Entrepreneurial Ecosystem: Encourages collaboration among academia, industry, government, and the community (the Quadruple Helix) to cultivate student entrepreneurs and enhance educators’ expertise in entrepreneurship education.
- Impactful Collaborations: Promotes strategic partnerships to ensure high-quality entrepreneurship education, improve graduate employability, and sustain the financial viability of higher education institutions.
In alignment with these objectives, CREATE (Centre for Enterprise and Technopreneurship Development), HEPA (Student Affairs and Alumni Office) at UTeM have actively collaborated with national agencies such as the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Institut Keusahawanan Negara (INSKEN) to deliver impactful mentorship and training programs for students.
Programs Supporting the Initiative:
- Global Outsourcing Talent (GOT): Collaboration with MDEC, focusing on developing students’ digital and outsourcing skills for global employability.
- e-Usahawan Training (TikTok for Business): Conducted in collaboration with MDEC, this program equips participants with social media marketing and digital entrepreneurship skills.
- Seminar Keusahawanan Malaysia (Jom Jumpa PROTÉGÉ): Organized in partnership with INSKEN, this seminar provides students with insights into national entrepreneurship trends and opportunities for business networking.
