Pengurusan Tenaga Efisien ( SDG 7 )

University’s Direct Services to Local Industry on Energy Efficiency and Clean Energy 2024

Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), through its subsidiary UTeM Holdings Sdn. Bhd., provides specialized consultancy and technical services to local industries and government agencies to enhance energy efficiency and clean energy practices. A notable initiative includes the 2024 Energy Audit conducted for Kompleks Melaka Mall, Majlis Perbandaran Hang Tuah Jaya (MPHTJ).

This comprehensive audit evaluated the mall’s energy performance, consumption trends, and opportunities for improvement. The study identified multiple Energy Saving Measures (ESMs) and recommended strategies that could significantly reduce electricity usage, operational costs, and carbon emissions. The findings demonstrated measurable potential for annual energy savings, cost reductions, and carbon footprint mitigation — underscoring the value of professional energy management practices.

Beyond this project, UTeM continues to extend its expertise through energy audits, training workshops, awareness programs, and applied research in renewable energy systems, reflecting its broader commitment to sustainable energy transition within the industrial and public sectors.
This initiative aligns directly with Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7): Affordable and Clean Energy, reinforcing UTeM’s leadership in promoting energy efficiency, responsible consumption, and clean energy solutions for a more sustainable future.

Energy Audit at PETRONAS Lubricant International Sdn. Bhd. (PLISB)

Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), through UTeM Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (UHSB), conducted an Energy Audit for PETRONAS Lubricant International Sdn. Bhd. (PLISB) under the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) RMK12 Energy Audit Conditional Grant (EACG). The audit was carried out at the Melaka Lube Blending Plant (MLBP) to assess energy performance, identify inefficiencies, and recommend energy-saving measures aligned with PETRONAS’ Net Zero Carbon Emissions (NZCE) 2050 commitment.

The audit adopted a comprehensive methodology combining field measurements, data analysis, and system evaluation across major energy-consuming facilities. Several Energy Saving Measures (ESMs) were identified, focusing on optimizing operational systems, upgrading equipment efficiency, and implementing a Sustainable Energy Management System (SEMS). The proposed measures demonstrated significant potential for energy and cost savings, as well as a measurable reduction in carbon emissions, contributing to overall efficiency improvements and supporting PETRONAS’ long-term sustainability goals.

This collaboration reflects UTeM’s role in advancing industrial energy optimization through applied research and professional consultancy, reinforcing its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7): Affordable and Clean Energy and Malaysia’s low-carbon transition agenda.
