Pengurusan Tenaga Efisien (SDG 7)

1- University Support for Government Clean Energy and Energy-Efficient Policy Development

Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) actively supports the Government of Malaysia’s clean energy transition and energy efficiency policy development through research, advisory, and implementation roles anchored in national strategic frameworks. As a technical university with expertise in sustainable energy systems, UTeM contributes directly to policy realization by aligning its programs, projects, and operations with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and other relevant acts and regulations.

UTeM’s institutional approach to energy management is guided by the Energy Management Guidelines and Policy (Dasar dan Garis Panduan Pengurusan Tenaga), which operationalizes national directives under the Efficient Management of Electrical Energy Regulations 2008 (EMEER 2008) and the Electricity Supply Act 1990. These frameworks are integrated into UTeM’s Energy Management System (EnMS), ensuring systematic energy monitoring, auditing, and continuous improvement across all university facilities.

Through its Centre for Smart Environment (CENSEi) and UTeM Holdings Sdn. Bhd., the university provides professional consultation, energy audits, and training that complement Malaysia’s national clean energy objectives under NETR and Low Carbon Nation Aspiration 2040 (LCNA 2040). UTeM’s technical experts frequently engage with governmental and industrial stakeholders, offering data-driven insights and technical support for energy-efficient technologies, renewable energy integration, and carbon management strategies.

Through CENSEi and UTeM Holdings, the university provides consultancy, audits, and training to promote renewable energy and low-carbon technologies. UTeM’s leadership in sustainable energy management has been nationally recognized, having won the National Energy Award (NEA) twice, underscoring its strong commitment to SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy and to Malaysia’s transition toward a resilient, low-carbon future.
